Google has launched the Pixel 11 Pro Fold in India as its newest premium book-style foldable. It was announced on August 12 alongside the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL.

Unlike a conventional flagship, the Pro Fold is designed to switch between a regular smartphone experience and a larger tablet-like workspace. Its 8-inch inner display is the biggest attraction, while Google’s Tensor G6 platform and Gemini Intelligence are aimed at making the larger screen more useful for multitasking and AI-powered tasks.

The Pixel 11 Pro Fold is priced at Rs. 1,86,999 in India for its sole 16GB RAM + 512GB storage configuration. It is available in Olive in India, with pre-orders open through Google Store and Flipkart. General availability begins August 20.

Why This Phone Is Getting Attention

The  Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold is interesting because Google is not treating the foldable simply as a smaller tablet.

The company has redesigned the hinge, improved the inner display construction and added new software features specifically for the large screen. Google says the new model is almost 10% lighter and around 1mm thinner than the Pixel 10 Pro Fold.

There is also HiLight, an LED system surrounding the rear camera flash. It can use different colours to provide glanceable information, including alerts for selected contacts and visual cues while interacting with Gemini hands-free.

For people who use a foldable primarily for productivity, the bigger improvement may actually be the software. Google has retained features such as Split Screen, Drag and Drop and Instant View while optimising app bubbles for the unfolded display.

Design & Build

The Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold retains the book-style design but gets some meaningful structural changes.

Google says it is nearly 10% lighter and approximately 1mm thinner than the previous-generation Pixel 10 Pro Fold. The phone measures 155.2 x 76 x 10.1mm when folded and 155.2 x 150.4 x 5mm when unfolded, with a weight of around 239 grams.

The new model comes in Olive and Obsidian globally, although India gets the Olive colour option according to Google’s India launch coverage.

One of the more important changes is the new gearless hinge. Google says it helps protect the inner display and improves crease performance. The outer display uses ultra-strong ceramic cover glass, while the rear uses a glass-fibre composite material.

The phone also carries an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. That is particularly useful on a foldable because durability and water resistance have traditionally been major concerns in this category.

Google claims the new model is three times more durable than its predecessor based on internal testing. That is a manufacturer claim rather than an independent durability result, so real-world testing will still matter.

Display

The Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold has two displays.

The main screen is an 8-inch OLED Super Actua Flex display with a 2076 x 2152-pixel resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 372ppi pixel density and up to 3,600 nits peak brightness. It also supports HDR.

When folded, users get a 6.5-inch Super Actua OLED cover display with a 1080 x 2342-pixel resolution, 19.5:9 aspect ratio and 120Hz refresh rate.

Both displays can reach up to 3,600 nits, while Google says they are 20% brighter than those on the previous generation.

The inner screen uses ultra-thin glass, while the outer panel gets ceramic cover glass.

For everyday use, the cover screen should handle calls, messaging and quick browsing without requiring the phone to be opened. The 8-inch inner display becomes more useful for documents, multitasking, video, editing and larger apps.

Performance

The Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold is powered by Google’s Tensor G6 chipset and comes with 16GB of RAM.

Google designed the Tensor G6 specifically around its Gemini Intelligence platform, so the processor’s importance here goes beyond conventional CPU and GPU performance. The large amount of RAM should also give the phone plenty of room for multitasking across the two displays.

The foldable supports features such as Split Screen, Drag and Drop, Instant View and optimised app bubbles. When unfolded, users can keep an app accessible in a bubble while working with another application.

The Tensor G6 should also help with on-device AI processing, but independent benchmarks are still needed before making a strong judgement about sustained gaming or raw performance against rival foldables.

Camera

The Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold has a triple-camera setup on the rear.

Main Camera

The primary camera uses a 48MP sensor with an f/1.7 aperture.

Google describes it as a new main camera designed to improve photography on the foldable. The sensor is paired with Google’s computational photography system, which remains one of the biggest reasons to consider a Pixel.

A 48MP resolution alone does not guarantee better photographs. Sensor characteristics, optics, stabilisation and image processing all contribute to the final result.

Ultra-Wide Camera

The phone has a 10.5MP ultra-wide camera with a 127-degree field of view.

That makes it useful for landscapes, architecture, group shots and situations where the standard camera cannot capture enough of the scene.

Telephoto Camera

The third rear camera is a 10.8MP telephoto sensor with 5x optical zoom.

Google’s Super Zoom system extends the range to 30x.

This is a more practical approach than simply advertising an extremely high digital zoom number. Optical zoom provides the actual lens-based magnification, while computational processing is used to extend the range further.

Front Cameras

The phone has two 10MP selfie cameras — one on the cover display and another on the inner display. They are designed for selfies, video calls and other front-camera tasks regardless of whether the device is folded or unfolded.

Video

The Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold can record video at up to 4K resolution at 60fps.

For creators, the foldable design itself can be useful because the device can be positioned at different angles while recording.

Special Features: HiLight and Foldable Experience

HiLight

HiLight is one of the most unusual additions to the Pixel 11 Pro Fold.

LEDs positioned around the camera flash can glow in different colours to provide quick visual information. Users can assign colours to favourite contacts, while HiLight can also provide cues during hands-free Gemini interactions. Google says more notification capabilities will be added over time.

Sign-to-Text

Google has also introduced a new sign-to-text feature designed with the Deaf community. It can use the front camera to recognise American Sign Language and display translations on the outer screen. Availability varies by country and language, so users should check whether the feature is supported in their region.

Large-Screen Multitasking

The 8-inch display is where the foldable makes the biggest practical difference.

Users can run two apps through Split Screen, drag content between applications and use Instant View. Google has also optimised app bubbles for the unfolded screen.

For people who regularly read documents, reply to long emails, edit content or work across multiple applications, this can be considerably more useful than a standard 6.7-inch smartphone.

Software & AI

The Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold runs Android 17 out of the box.

Google promises seven years of OS upgrades, security updates and Pixel Drop updates, which is important for a phone costing close to Rs. 2 lakh.

The device is built around Google’s Gemini Intelligence platform and includes Pixel-specific AI capabilities such as proactive assistance and improved Circle to Search integration with Pixel Camera.

The foldable also gets Magic Capture and Camera Looks. Magic Capture is designed to help capture a suitable moment when a subject is moving, while Camera Looks provides customisable photographic styles.

Battery & Charging

The Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold packs a 4,806mAh battery.

Google claims the phone can provide more than 24 hours of battery life, although actual endurance will depend on display brightness, network conditions, camera use, gaming and multitasking.

Charging is supported at 30W wired and up to 25W Qi2.2 wireless.

Google says the phone can reach 50% charge in around 30 minutes using a compatible 30W charging setup. The charger is sold separately.

For a foldable this large, the 4,806mAh battery is reasonable, but some competing premium foldables offer larger batteries and faster wired charging. That is one area where buyers should compare hardware carefully.

Storage & Connectivity

The Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold comes in a single India configuration:

  • 16GB RAM + 512GB storage

There is no microSD expansion, so the 512GB internal storage is the capacity buyers will have to work with.

Connectivity includes 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, NFC and USB Type-C. Navigation support includes GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou, QZSS and NavIC.

The phone uses a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, rather than an in-display fingerprint reader.

Price & Availability in India

The Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold is available in India in a single configuration:

  • 16GB x 512GB – Rs. 1,86,999 – Olive

Google has confirmed the India price at Rs. 1,86,999. The phone is currently available for pre-order through the Google India online store and Flipkart, with general availability from August 20, 2026.

There is no approximate currency conversion involved here, since Google has officially announced the Indian price.

The phone is offered in a single Olive colour in India.

Google has also introduced a dedicated Pixel 11 Pro Fold case with an integrated hinge cover for additional protection.

Competition & Alternatives

At Rs. 1,86,999, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold is competing directly with premium book-style foldables rather than conventional flagship smartphones.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 is one of the most direct alternatives. It offers Samsung’s mature foldable ecosystem, strong multitasking features and a different approach to the foldable form factor. Current comparison data places its India pricing below the Pixel 11 Pro Fold in some configurations.

Choose the Pixel 11 Pro Fold for Google’s Pixel software, Gemini integration, camera processing and 8-inch inner display.

Choose the Galaxy Z Fold8 if Samsung’s ecosystem, multitasking tools and hardware experience are more important to you.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra

The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is another serious alternative at the premium end of the foldable market. It targets buyers who want maximum hardware specifications, including a larger battery and more aggressive camera hardware.

Choose the Pixel for Google’s AI-first software and Pixel photography.

Choose the Samsung Ultra if raw hardware, battery capacity and Samsung’s productivity ecosystem matter more.

Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold

The previous-generation Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold is also worth considering if its price falls significantly after the new model’s launch.

The Pixel 11 Pro Fold brings a newer Tensor G6 chip, lighter and thinner construction, a new main camera, improved durability and faster charging.

Choose the Pixel 10 Pro Fold if it becomes substantially cheaper.

Choose the Pixel 11 Pro Fold if you want the newer hardware and plan to keep the phone for several years.

Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold Price Justification

At Rs. 1,86,999, this is not a phone that can be justified simply by its specifications.

You are paying for the complete foldable experience: an 8-inch inner display, a premium hinge, IP68 resistance, Tensor G6, 16GB RAM, Pixel camera processing, Gemini features and long-term software support.

The problem is that rivals can offer stronger hardware in some areas. Samsung’s latest foldables, for example, compete aggressively on thickness, weight and hardware, while other manufacturers can offer larger batteries or faster charging.

The Pixel’s strongest value proposition is therefore Google’s software and AI experience combined with its foldable form factor, rather than raw hardware value.
