Apple has announced Apple Home Collection, a new range of smart home accessories developed with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric. The lineup includes security cameras, a video doorbell, a smart deadbolt lock, thermostats and temperature sensors designed to work with Apple’s Home app and Siri.

The announcement expands Apple’s smart home ecosystem beyond its own hardware, giving users more options for home monitoring, access control and climate management. Apple says the accessories can be set up with a single tap on an iPhone without requiring separate manufacturer apps or accounts.

The products will initially launch in the US, Canada and the UK, although availability varies by category. Apple has announced US starting prices, with availability beginning in December 2026 and select products following in early 2027.

Design and Setup

Apple Home Collection is designed around a consistent setup and control experience. Users can add compatible accessories through an iPhone and manage them through the Home app, rather than downloading a separate app for each manufacturer.

The range includes indoor and outdoor cameras, a wired video doorbell, a deadbolt lock, thermostats and standalone temperature sensors. The products have different installation requirements, particularly for wired cameras, door locks and HVAC equipment.

All the announced accessories support Thread, which provides a low-power networking option for compatible smart home devices. Apple also says the products can update their network credentials automatically when users change their home Wi-Fi details.

Security Cameras and Video Doorbell

LG is supplying four cameras: the Video Doorbell Wired, Floodlight Cam, Outdoor Cam Plug-In and Indoor Cam Plug-In. All four capture video at up to 2.5K resolution and support recognition of people, familiar faces, pets, vehicles and packages.

The LG Video Doorbell Wired combines a 2.5K front-facing camera with a Full HD camera aimed towards the area below the door. It also includes a spotlight, two-way communication and chime support through compatible Apple speakers and HomeView.

The LG Floodlight Cam adds two adaptive floodlights that switch on when motion is detected. Its low-light colour night vision is intended to make outdoor footage more informative after dark.

The Outdoor Cam Plug-In also supports low-light colour night vision, while the Indoor Cam Plug-In has a 160-degree field of view. The indoor model can tilt upwards when users check in remotely and tilt back down when the first household member returns, providing a physical privacy measure.

Camera footage history requires a supported iCloud+ subscription and is retained for 10 days. Apple also says the cameras have built-in storage to continue recording during Wi-Fi outages.

LG Smart Deadbolt Lock

The LG Smart Deadbolt Lock is designed to make home access easier for Apple users. Its Ultra Wideband technology can detect when a person carrying a compatible iPhone or Apple Watch with a configured home key approaches the door, allowing it to unlock automatically.

Users can also unlock it using their device, an integrated PIN pad or a hidden backup key slot. The lock can detect door activity and possible tampering, while guest access can be shared through the Home app.

Matter compatibility and Aliro support broaden its smart access capabilities. LG and Apple say the lock’s core access functions operate locally, allowing them to continue working without an internet connection.

Thermostats and Temperature Sensors

The collection includes the LG Smart Thermostat and Schneider Home Smart Thermostat, both priced at $199.95 in the US. Each is designed to adjust heating and cooling through Adaptive Temperature in the Home app, taking account of whether occupants are home, asleep or away.

The thermostats can use temperature and humidity readings from compatible HomeView and HomePod devices, as well as the new standalone sensors. This helps address differences between rooms rather than relying exclusively on a single thermostat’s location.

LG’s Temperature Sensor and Schneider Home Room Sensor each start at $39.95. Both companies’ sensors and thermostats support Matter, and Apple says the thermostats include wire detection to simplify installation.

In the contiguous US, Clean Energy Guidance can also help eligible households shift heating and cooling towards cleaner or lower-cost periods when supported by their utility plan. This feature’s availability depends on location and utility compatibility.

Connectivity, Privacy and Compatibility

Apple says Home Collection accessories encrypt Home app data end to end, preventing Apple, LG and Schneider Electric from accessing the protected personal data and camera footage.

Camera footage is processed locally on a compatible home hub or through Apple’s Private Cloud Compute system. With a supported iCloud+ plan, footage history is stored in encrypted iCloud storage for 10 days.

A compatible home hub is required for the collection’s smart home experience. Supported options include Apple HomeView, HomePod, HomePod mini and Apple TV 4K. Some advanced camera features also depend on Apple Intelligence and an eligible iCloud+ subscription.

The products are therefore most relevant to households already using Apple devices. Buyers should check compatibility and installation requirements before purchasing, especially for wired cameras and HVAC equipment.

Apple has not announced Indian prices or availability for this product lineup. The US prices should not be treated as confirmed Indian prices, and any eventual regional launch may have different pricing and availability.

Competition and Alternatives

Apple Home Collection competes in a crowded smart home market that includes products from Ring, Google Nest, ecobee and other established accessory makers.

Alternative Why consider it? Home Collection’s potential advantage
Ring security cameras Established home monitoring ecosystem Integrated Apple Home controls
Google Nest cameras Google Home integration Apple-focused privacy and device integration
ecobee thermostats Smart climate management Coordinated cameras, access control and climate products
Existing Matter-compatible accessories Wider choice across manufacturers A more consistent setup experience within Apple Home

Actual value will depend on regional pricing, compatibility and independent testing. Apple’s main proposition is convenience through a connected ecosystem rather than a single standout specification.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Broad range of security, access and climate products.
  • Simple setup through the Apple Home app.
  • Thread support across the collection.
  • End-to-end encryption for Home app data.
  • Local operation for core smart lock functions.

Cons

  • Initial availability is limited to selected countries.
  • Camera history requires a supported iCloud+ subscription.
  • Wired products may require professional installation.
  • Some advanced features depend on compatible hubs, devices or services.

Final Verdict: Should You Consider Apple Home Collection?

Apple Home Collection is aimed at households that want their security cameras, door access and climate controls to work together through Apple Home. The range is more compelling as a coordinated system than as a collection of unrelated accessories, particularly for users who already own an iPhone, HomePod or Apple TV.

However, buyers should compare individual products with established alternatives before committing to the ecosystem. Installation costs, iCloud+ requirements and regional availability could affect the overall value.

Best for: Apple users building a connected home with integrated security and climate controls.

Consider alternatives if: You need broader regional availability, lower installation costs or compatibility with another smart home platform.

Bottom line: Apple Home Collection strengthens Apple’s smart home offering, but its long-term appeal will depend on real-world reliability, product pricing and how well the accessories perform outside Apple’s own demonstrations.
